But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person. —John2:24-25
To be awakened is to have no more wrong judgements in life. Being deceived by delusions makes our criticism of people harsh and cynical. But the awakening from God makes us see the mankind’s nature without being cynical or bitter. Much of life’s pain is caused by delusions. We judge others by what we think, not by what we believe. Everything is either good or bad for us.
The unwillingness to awaken from the delusion is the cause of all pains in life. Such is the case: if we love a man, but do not love God, we demand his integrity. Once cannot get, become cruel, to revenge; what we are asking for is that one person cannot do it. Only the Lord Jesus can satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart. Jesus had a very severe view of every kind of relationship; because he knew that any relationship that was not based on loyalty to God would end in tragedy. Although the Lord did not commit himself to others, he was never suspicious or bitter. Faith in God, and faith in the omnipotence of his grace, kept him from despairing of anyone. If we trust in people, we are disappointed in them.
Dear God, I know nothing of the details of your ways, but I hope your wonderful deeds will soon be revealed. How completely at rest I am! how greatly relieved when I see your ways!
